Funeral Service for Tammy Sukstorf will be at 11 A.M., Friday, July 12, 2019 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs. Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M, with family receiving friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at Union Cemetery. Principal Ben Hansen states, “Tammy was not only a great person but a great teacher. The teaching profession is not easy and the challenges that kids bring to the table over the course of a school year are countless, but Tammy always found a way to connect with her students. Many teachers are great in many ways, but Tammy was special. Her kindness, patience, compassion, and care for her students ran deep. No matter how challenging a student was, or how difficult a class, she remained poised and always worked to figure out how to personally connect with a student. She was able to do this because students truly felt loved and cared for by her. Tammy could often be seen with an arm around a student, a high five being given, or even tear up with pride when sharing something a student accomplished. She was born to be a teacher and had the personal intangibles that made her able to connect with kids beyond content and made them feel safe, secure and loved. She was a model employee who worked hard, took pride in being a teacher, did what she was asked and was constantly trying to improve. It is a tremendous loss to our school and she will be greatly missed for many years to come.” If you were unable to attend the grief sessions at the school today but would still like to meet with our counselor Tommy Gerrish, please call the school to set up an appointment.

Dear Parents, Patrons, and Students, It with great sadness that we inform you of the tragic loss of our second-grade teacher Mrs. Tammy Sukstorf. Tammy has taught at Cedar Bluffs Elementary School since 1994, touching so many lives in the process. We understand that many of you are grieving and we as a school would like to help with that process. The school will be open today at 2:00 p.m. where crisis counselors will be available for any students or parents that just need a comforting place. Please enter through the High School doors, as construction in the Elementary area makes it unsafe for travel.
