Superintendent Press Release February 28, 2025
Dear Cedar Bluffs Families,
As we transition into the vibrant month of March, I am excited to share some reflections on our collective journey and highlight both historical milestones and current events shaping our community. March invites us to celebrate significant moments that have shaped our world. This month marks Women's History Month, a time to honor the remarkable contributions of women throughout history who have paved the way for progress and equality. On March 2, we celebrate Dr. Seuss Day, recognizing the beloved author's birthday and the joy of reading that continues to inspire young minds. Later in the month, Saint Patrick’s Day on March 17 reminds us of the importance of cultural heritage and the diversity that enriches our community.
Our school community continues to be dynamic and resilient, embracing every opportunity for growth and collaboration. Our students are excelling academically, demonstrating their talents in various competitions and projects. Notably, our cheer team earned an impressive second place at State in the Traditional division, along with an academic award for maintaining a cumulative team GPA of 3.5 or higher as a team. Additionally, our speech team performed exceptionally well at the conference, securing the runner-up trophy, with three individuals earning first-place finishes in their respective events. Their dedication and hard work deserve our recognition and celebration. We are also grateful for the support and involvement of our families and community partners, whose commitment enhances the educational experience for all. As we approach the spring season, our athletes are preparing for an exciting lineup of competitions. Their sportsmanship and teamwork set a great example for all of us, and we look forward to cheering them on.
During our February board meeting, the school board approved next year’s school calendar. One topic that is always debated is the scheduling of parent-teacher conferences. Each year, we gather feedback from parents and staff and have experimented with different approaches. Over the past two years, we scheduled conferences on two consecutive Wednesdays to avoid conflicts with extracurricular activities, but this posed challenges for families attending religious services. Additionally, we have consistently heard requests for a more defined fall and spring break. In response, the new calendar aims to address both concerns. In October and March, there will be no school on a Wednesday for a teacher in-service day, followed by parent-teacher conferences that evening. On Thursday, there will be no school, allowing for a full day of parent teacher conferences, and Friday will serve as a teacher compensation day, providing an extended break for students and staff.
As we look ahead, March offers us a chance to reflect on our progress and set new goals for the future. Together, we will continue to nurture a learning environment that fosters growth, compassion, and academic excellence. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our educational community. Wishing everyone a joyful and productive month ahead!
Have a great weekend - Wildcat Pride!
