Superintendent Press Release February 21, 2025

Dear Cedar Bluffs Families,

As we embark on another week of learning and growth, February brings us closer to understanding our shared history and the lessons it holds for us. This week, we reflect on pivotal historical events that shaped our world and continue to inspire and educate.

This month, we celebrate Black History Month by acknowledging the remarkable achievements of Jesse Owens during the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Owens' legendary performance not only secured his place in athletic history with four gold medals but also challenged the prevailing notions of racial superiority at a critical moment in global history. Furthermore, and closer to home. This week marks the anniversary of Malcolm X’s assassination on February 21, 1965. As a powerful advocate for civil rights, his message of self-determination and justice continues to inspire generations. His impact reminds us of the importance of standing up for equality and ensuring that every student in our schools has the opportunity to succeed.

This past Monday, we observed Presidents’ Day, a holiday honoring George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and all U.S. presidents. As educators, we encourage students to reflect on the qualities of great leadership—integrity, resilience, and service to others. Whether studying Lincoln’s leadership during the Civil War or Washington’s role in shaping a young nation, these lessons remain relevant in today’s world.

At Cedar Bluffs Public School, we are committed to fostering educational excellence and community engagement. Our educators continue to inspire students through innovative teaching methods that incorporate lessons from history into our curriculum. By understanding the past, we prepare our students to become informed and compassionate leaders of tomorrow.

As always, we thank our dedicated staff, students, and families for their ongoing support and commitment to education. Participation in our parent teacher conferences was outstanding despite the bitter cold. We thank our PTO for dinner, we are truly blessed to have such a strong and positive relationship. Together, we ensure that Cedar Bluffs Public School remains a place where history is not only studied but also celebrated and understood for its profound impact on our lives today.

Have a great weekend -  Wildcat Pride!
